When thinking about SEO what words come to your mind? Is it Copy, Writing, Ranking, Links, Linking, Search Engines, Blogs, Articles, Marketing, Advertising, Seo Books, Seo Firms, Seo Forums. ???

The first things that come to mind for me are: overused jargon. Also, I think a lot of consumers get taken for a ride by companies who promise the moon with regards to search rankings that they cannot guarantee.

I think SEO is really about thinking about your site in terms of usability and relevance for your end-user - relevant live text, unique and relevant page titles and keywords. All these things make life easier for your site’s visitors and also make your site more search engine-friendly as well.

I don’t know anyone who makes $1000 a day. But yes, I know one who makes an average $200/day and another who averages $150/day. I have seen the checks!

AdSense is easier because it’s free, you just put up the Google code so ads are displayed on your site, and then just put good content up on your site so that Google can scan it and send relevant advertising which (hopefully) people will click on.

To make big money you’d need to do some serious blogging or other activities that involve having a large amount of content up on the web. The more stuff up, the more exposure your ads will receive, and hopefully the more money you’ll earn.

As I know, to make money through Google Adsense you need the following:
1. A web site with good content - you can always build one. A site with “functional” content (as I would like to call it) would automatically get inbound links and thus rank high (over a period of time)
2. Lot of traffic to your web site - which you will get if you develop meaningful content on your web site
3. Focus on an industry that is competitive and develop content fot that.

Remember - ethical Adsense earnings are always possible!

White hat SEO improve usability or accessibility of the site while it also improve SEO Factors.

Black hat SEO potentially improve SEO factors, although it harms user experience in terms of human-computer interaction with a web resource or application.

Gray hat SEO work improve SEO factors but does not add value in terms of usability or accessibility.

In many ways black hat SEO is hacking. Dont take offense. Its just that search engines keep rewriting their code to try and give dynamic sites a higher place. Answer sites, sites with articles, forums, blogs. And sale sites keep working to get around that. In hacking white, grey, and black hat are fairly common terms.

White-Hat refers to those who do not break laws, who follow rules, and do not violate EULAs or Terms of Service agreements. Grey-Hat are those who are willing to break rules for what they feel is a cause of good.

Black-Hat are the “bad guys”. Like in old american cowboy movies. They have no care for laws and rules, and they do things completely for themselves.

By the way, in the areas of hacking, and SEO, I consider myself whitehat. In SEO that means making recommendations which use sites the way those sites want to be used. Both the search engines, and other sites (social sites, forums, blogs, etc). A blackhat SEO tends to recommend abuses of social sites such as MySpace or abusing forums or abusing blogs using them strictly for advertising. There are ways to use them properly for SEO gains but of course spamming is quicker and easier than doing it right.

There is no such thing as “perfect keyword density.” Yes, your page has to include the primary keyword/phrase you’re targeting. But no, a calculator is not an SEO tool. :-) Write naturally. Write for humans. Include appropriate keywords and synonyms where you can. But don’t worry about word counts and percentages and all that other stuff.
