How to make your own Night Light

Posted in Housing and Gardening By admin on May 12th, 2009

Night light seems easy but it might come handy in the right time. They might proves handy and make things easier by the time you need it. Night Light can help to lighten a darkened stair well, so you won’t need to leave on a regular lamp. They can even help to get rid off bad dreams in your child’s room, thus making the children more convenience. So how do you make your own night-light? It’s great, it’s easy. Anyone can do it. Here’s how to make your own Night Light.

- First get a frame of the lampshade, place it in piece of paper and trace around it. Next, turn it on either side so you can trace the side as well. Don’t lift the frame in process as you want to have an accurate pattern to be used when cutting out the fabric to cover the entire lampshade frame when you make a night-light. Then cut out the pattern with a scissor.

- Now lay your pattern that you were cutting on the wrong side of the fabric you have chosen and trace around it. Use material to trace that won’t goes through the fabric like tailor’s chalk or a pencil. Watch with a straight edge, you have to add ½ inch for seam allowance all the way around the pattern. Then cut the fabric around the outer-most mark.

- Then set the fabric you’re about to use on your table right side down, and lay the lampshade frame for your night-light on top of it. Give some glue on the ½ inch seam allowance that you once made, then fold the fabric over the frame and press it together covering the edges of the lamp shade frame as you make a night light. You may also have to make small cuts in the fabric fit more tightly. This will allow the glue to dry up.

- Now you can decorate the shade for your night-light by sewing on beads or any other decorations. Let your imagination runs in decorating the shade. You can even add some finishing of the edges with a contrast fabric or border to make it more interesting.

- Finally slip the finished shade onto the night-light to make your own night-light. And Voila! You have made your own night-light that will envy your neighbors and ward off the darkness of night.xxxxxxxxx See? I told you that was easy. You can make it in no time using any available things in your surroundings. And it’s fun too! So let’s get on with it!
